Roots run deep

North Haven was built from the late 1960s into the mid-1970s, with recent sales showing build years from 1969 to 1976. It came along during North Raleigh's first big growth push north of the beltline.

Homes are mostly single-story brick ranches between about 1,450 and 2,200 sq ft, many with carports, screened porches and fireplaces, on lots of about a quarter to nearly half an acre.

Many homes are original or lightly updated, and others have been fully renovated, so prices run from the mid-$400Ks to the high $500Ks. With no HOA, city services and a short drive to North Hills, North Haven is a popular choice for first-time buyers and downsizers.
