Neighborhood history
A planned community
Greystone was planned as a full community, with a lake, a swim and racquet club and its own shopping center, as North Raleigh pushed out along Lead Mine Road in the 1980s. Building continued through the 1990s, with the newer single-family streets around Wedgeland Drive dating to the late '90s.
Instead of one big subdivision, Greystone is a group of smaller sections, each with its own name in the MLS (Greystone Park, Greystone Wedges, Greystone Manor, Greystone Village and others). Those sections mix detached homes with townhomes, which is why prices here run from the low $300Ks for a townhome to the $700Ks for single-family.
The pieces that tie it together, Lake Greystone, the swim club and the Greystone Village shopping center with its city rec center, are all within a few minutes' walk or drive of each other.
